American Advertising Awards

Inland Empire Addy Awards Gala, Mission Inn

Art and Design majors entered graphic design, illustration and photography in the 2019 Annual Study Advertising Awards and won a total of 11 bronze, silver and gold awards. Dept Chair Terrill Thomas is the principle creative for t13media.com, winning a bronze award for motion graphics, NISD Counseling Brand Story and a gold award for the Art + Design logo and neon sign – PLAY.

Thomas: ‘Connecting students to the professional worlds of business and design is a critical strength of the Art + Design program. I am thankful for the Katchamakoff Endowment that financially assists in helping students participate in design competitions. This is the first year that we’ve had sophomores win in a competition traditionally designed for junior and senior majors. Attending both the Student Awards Ceremony and the Professional Gala Dinner with the students was an unforgettable experience. This is the best way to connect students to local design studios and advertising agencies.’

Attending the Addy‘s this year was a rewarding experience. It was not only an opportunity to network with design agencies from the I.E,, but also a chance to celebrate the impressive work of my peers and of students from other universities. I am grateful to have received both a silver and gold award for projects I created in my graphic design classes at A+D.  – Andrew Perez

As a first time ADDY attendee, it was extremely inspiring seeing what other schools and businesses have been working on during the past year and getting inspiration for future projects. Winning silver for my photography was amazing and I really appreciated the support from my peers and the organization. I definitely plan on submitting work next year! – Blake

The addy award banquet was a very good experience in regards to attending an awards ceremony for both professionals and students, and also for submitting our work into a show/exhibition. The submission process took a lot longer than we thought but it was worth it to get that experience for the future. The awards banquet was also good for a general experience on how an awards ceremony could go. It was interesting to see other student and professional work and see where my peers and I compared. I look forward to submitting more work for next year! – Brigitta
